'Snowflake'

A sheer blessing from the a merry sky
A single snowflake lands in my palm
This miniature crystal if you will
I dare to hold it up in the air
And pray, more so wish it'll stay
Moments just as well melt away
There goes another , one, two three more land
A school of crystals I now hold in my hand
With a thought and a story
I look in their direction
Tend to follow the quiet disappearing act
Each of them will shortly engage in
Days, years, decades are as swift
And here we are coming to greet
A snowflake of two thousand and three

These visions of snowflakes I corner within my soul
And now releasing them on to you, my friend
Whether near or far
In places unknown,
Or in neighborhoods as familiar
As the tip of my thumb

Let your New Year be
A snowflake voyage, engraved in your heart
Remembered by the birds flying over

I write these lines with all the love
My heart owns,
Joyous and riveting Holiday Season
Simply a great Year to you and yours!

Guardian

With the example of Rumi in the mind today and every day,
Only one beloved in this world, his love becomes yours through this fire,
Fireplace full of candles instead of wood, light each one with the patience of a 100 year old woman,
Through all the different heights and colors,
Forming a pyramid of light and warmth.
You have been chosen to guard and protect these shimmering dancers of time,
Flickering left, flickering right, each dancing with the honorable intention for the New Year,
The new moon eclipse, and the daylight that will burden their chore today but will melt away the last twelve months.
Once you experience the warmth of his touch through all the movement in the dancing candles,
Only one that ferociously gives this love and life and light,
A candle and a water reflection,
Two swallows choose a direction,
Following the reflection of the fire in the water,
Guard this secret for the one and only beloved,
For he comes when you believe and let him wake through your vessel of life,
Through the vehicle of your soul, allow the journey to the New Year,
Caringly oversee this spectacle of time and light,
Essence and fear
Crime and truth
Days and nights
Accept the role you have been ushered,
Pass it onto the next guard in a year’s time.
At once the fireplace should be filled with candles instead of wooden logs for this time of the year.
Only one beloved will carry this light,
For the next twelve months, you will serve as the guardian of light.

ICICLE

I picture everyone I know
And see them go through roller coasters
Every season brings a different speed
The most wonderful aspect of winter
Is the stillness it brings and the whiteness it entails
Crunching of the snow as you walk
Snowflakes that fall quietly
Far from the loudness of the monsoon rains
It is towering and building without a sound
You look out of your window
And with some luck
There is a bunch of icicles
Hanging in that peaceful fashion
As only icicles are able
You may run your fingers over them to
Make sure they are real
Breaking the thinner ones as your fingers slide
Before breaking them and sending them parachuting down
Stare for a moment through each one
Let the blue, purple and yellow reflections hit your eyes
And so you will spin into an unfamiliar stillness
May even cry with happiness
What is a second of nothingness and light?
Eternity of peace and soul flight
With that in mind
I would like to wish you and yours will take the icicle
And spend one moment each time your mind
Craves stillness to be about
Then you will look through it
See the film and see yourself; see your loved ones
And the ones that have passed
See it all in an icicle
In a split fraction of time
May the next four seasons be filled
With an abundance of peace and icicle moments

All the love and peace,
