Guardian

With the example of Rumi in the mind today and every day,
Only one beloved in this world, his love becomes yours through this fire,
Fireplace full of candles instead of wood, light each one with the patience of a 100 year old woman,
Through all the different heights and colors,
Forming a pyramid of light and warmth.
You have been chosen to guard and protect these shimmering dancers of time,
Flickering left, flickering right, each dancing with the honorable intention for the New Year,
The new moon eclipse, and the daylight that will burden their chore today but will melt away the last twelve months.
Once you experience the warmth of his touch through all the movement in the dancing candles,
Only one that ferociously gives this love and life and light,
A candle and a water reflection,
Two swallows choose a direction,
Following the reflection of the fire in the water,
Guard this secret for the one and only beloved,
For he comes when you believe and let him wake through your vessel of life,
Through the vehicle of your soul, allow the journey to the New Year,
Caringly oversee this spectacle of time and light,
Essence and fear
Crime and truth
Days and nights
Accept the role you have been ushered,
Pass it onto the next guard in a year’s time.
At once the fireplace should be filled with candles instead of wooden logs for this time of the year.
Only one beloved will carry this light,
For the next twelve months, you will serve as the guardian of light.
